The Vivos® System
At Green Dental of Alexandria, we are proud to offer the revolutionary Vivos® System, a groundbreaking approach that targets the root cause of sleep-disordered breathing for children and adults. Vivos® Appliances work by correcting the underlying issue that causes airway obstruction, gradually expanding the patient’s palate. This process creates the necessary growth in the mouth and airway, enabling efficient breathing throughout the night, and reducing or even eliminating Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
Getting Started with Vivos® Systems
The journey with Vivos® begins with a thorough and complete diagnosis of your condition through collaboration with board-certified physicians. Once your physician has diagnosed sleep apnea and determined that you are a good candidate for this treatment, a custom Vivos® biomimetic medical device will be designed specifically for you.
You will wear your Vivos® device for a period of 18 to 24 months, primarily in the evening and at night while you sleep. During treatment, periodic adjustments to your appliance will be made by our expert team, led by Dr. Hye Park. Progress will be documented with photographs and radiographs. Upon completion of treatment, many patients find that they no longer require further intervention.
Non-Surgical, Non-Invasive, and Medication-Free
All Vivos® Systems are non-surgical, non-invasive, and require no medication. This makes them a safe and effective option for patients seeking relief from sleep-disordered breathing.
Vivos® DNA Appliance
While CPAP machines and mandibular advancement devices only treat the symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea, the Vivos® DNA Appliance corrects the underlying issue that causes airway obstruction. This is achieved by gradually expanding the patient’s palate, using the principles of Pneumopedic® treatment. The DNA® is registered with the FDA as a Class I device for palatal expansion and is currently used by Vivos-trained clinicians accordingly.
Vivos® mRNA Appliance
The Mandibular Repositioning-Nighttime Appliance® (mRNA & mmRNA) system incorporates the principles of Pneumopedic® from the DNA system and the function of a traditional mandibular advancement device into one. The mRNA provides treatment for both the symptoms and cause of Obstructive Sleep Apnea by repositioning the lower jaw forward while sleeping to open the airway and create the necessary growth of the underdeveloped upper and lower jaws. The mRNA® has 510(k) clearance from the FDA as a Class II medical device for the treatment of snoring, mild-to-moderate Obstructive Sleep Apnea, and Sleep Disordered Breathing in adults.
Vivos® Guides
Obstructive Sleep Apnea affects people of all ages, including children. Breathing and sleeping well are critical for a child’s overall development and growth. When children have compromised breathing, it disrupts their sleep cycles and limits the oxygen their growing bodies need. This can lead to a wide range of health concerns, ranging from crooked teeth to bedwetting, night terrors, and ADHD.
The Vivos® Guides are designed to work with your child’s natural growth cycles, guiding and promoting their growth in the right direction. This leads to better development of their jaws, airway, and facial symmetry. The Vivos® Guides are registered with the FDA as Class I devices for orthodontic tooth positioning.
